Start Abidjan (Ivory Coast) / end Cotonou (Benin)
West Africa is undoubtedly one of the most unknown, diverse and exciting geographical areas on the planet. Origin of all the great Portuguese, French and English expeditions to the interior regions of the continent and center of colonial activity and slave trade until the 19th century. Our route begins in Abidjan and from there Elmina first castle, which we will always follow along the coast. This exciting route runs from north to south four countries with three different colonial inheritances. From the Baobabs forests of Ivory Coast to the lush jungles of Benin and Togo. In between, Ghana, British Redoubt and cradle of the famous port of Elmina. Colonial cities heritage of humanity with its past of slavery and suffering.
Day 1: Arrival in Abidjan(Côte d’Ivoire), meet at the airport and transfert to Hotel. Night in Abidjan.
Abidjan is a coastal town in the south Atlantic coast of Ivory Coast, West Africa. It is the main urban center of the country, with its skyscrapers rising above the Ébrié lagoon. Modern sites of interest include the Pyramid, a building reminiscent of a ziggurat. St. Paul’s Cathedral is an inclined structure attached to a huge cross. Works of art, cultural relics and handicrafts are on display at the Musée des Civilizations in Côte d’Ivoire.
Day 2: Sightseeing of Abidjan ( museum ,the plateau, the Church) and Grand Bassam(museum and the colonial town). Night in Grand Bassam.
Grand-Bassam is a seaside resort near the city of Abidjan, in Ivory Coast, in West Africa. It is known for its busy beach lined with palm trees, which stretches along the Atlantic coast. The old town, which dates from the French colonial era, once the capital of the country, is home to many ruined houses of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Traditional dresses are on display in a former governor’s palace at the National Costume Museum.
Day 3: Visit of Elmina Castle and the local fisherman market. Visit of the fort of Cape coast. Night in Elmina.
Elmina, on the Ghanaian coast, is today a small fishing port of 20,000 habitants from the first European counter of the Gulf of Guinea. The forts Saint-Georges-de-la-Mine and Saint-Jacques recall the oldness of the European implantation and the bitterness of the struggles in what was one of the largest centers of african slave trade.
Day 4: Sightseeing of Accra including Kwamé Krumah Mémorial and craft market. Night in Accra.
We will visit Kwame Nkrumah park , mausolée de Nkrumah, Makola market, Labadi and Kokrobite beach sont des endroits prisés en bord d’océan. La vie nocturne y est très animée.
Day 5: Drive to Lomé(Togo) Night in Lomé.
Day 6: Visit of Lomé( Fetich market, Artisanat, and Grand marché)
Lomé is togos capital in west africa . we will visit independance museum, governoment building. National museum. Voodoo market d’Akodésséwa.
Day 7: Drive to Ouidah, visit the Python temple, excursion on the road of slaves to the Non Return Door. Night in Ouidah.
Ouidah is a city in southern Benin, West Africa. She is known for her role in the slave trade of the Atlantic from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. The Slave Route, a path through which slaves were taken to join the ships, is lined with monuments and leads to the “Gate of No Return”, a memorial arch on the waterfront.
Day 8: Continue to the village of Ganvié on lake Nokoué. Visit of the village by boat. Back to the vehicle and continue to Porto Novo for the night.
Porto-Novo is a port city and the capital of Benin, West Africa. It is known for its colonial buildings like the Great Mosque, Brazilian style, which was once a church. The ethnographic museum displays musical instruments, costumes and ceremonial masks.
Day 9: Visit of the town and drive to Abomey for the night.
Abomey is a commune in southern Benin, located 145 km from Cotonou, in the department of Zou, of which it is the chief town. Founded in the seventeenth century by King Houégbadja is the historic capital. The Abomey Museum is a collection of royal palaces, part of which contains one of the most prestigious museums in Benin. The 47 hectare site of which it forms part is inscribed on the list of the world heritage of UNESCO since December 1985.
Day 10: Visite of Abomey and drive to Cotonou and night.
Cotonou is a large port city located on the south coast of Benin, West Africa. At the eastern end of the central boulevard Saint-Michel is the vast Dantokpa market, where religious objects and spices are sold alongside everyday objects. To the southwest, the nineteenth century Cotonou Cathedral has an original facade with red and white stripes.
Day 11: Vist of Cotonou, and transfert to the airport.

LOCAL PAYMENT
The local payment together with the tour price form the overall price of the tour. The local payment is paid in Euros cash to your tour leader on Day 1 of the tour rather than being prepaid with your tour price. In some cases this is used for a specific purpose, but in most cases it is used by the tour leader to cover a proportion of the local operating costs.

Accommodation is based on twin share. Single travellers are required to pay a single supplement. If you would prefer to share we will try to match you with another single traveller of the same sex. If we find a suitable sharing partner for you the single supplement will be refunded.
